More often than not, a potential client's first introduction to a business is through the company's website. Providing that website visitor the right information and making them want to become a customer is the sole responsibility of a business website. It is vital to the life of a business that the website say the right things about that business.
Having a professional business website is critical to the livelihood of a modern business. However, there are two challenges in directing potential clients to your business. The first challenge is having customers find the business website (direct url entry from a business card, marketing materials, word of mouth and from search engines). The second challenge is converting a website visitor into an actual customer that walks through the door of the business. Website content that engages a visitor and encourages them to pick up the phone or jump in the car to become a client is crucial.
Once the business website is found it should have the following:
- Current information about the business, services, specials etc.
- Contact information including phone number and address
- A quick summary about what the business actually does
Some things to look out for:
- Extensive use of images without text
- Slow loading time
- Nearly impossible-to-find contact information
- Out-of-date content
- Grammar and spelling errors
